Balancing Massage, Therapy, and Health

The Floating Lotus Spa recognizes that sometimes life gets in the way, and clients don’t have time to come in frequently for services, especially with the events of this year. Although there’s no substitute for a relaxing massage or therapeutic facial, here are a few of our favorite self-care treatments that you can do at home!

 Salt & Coconut OilScrub

Ingredients: Epsom salt, organic extra-virgin coconut oil, essential oil of your choice (optional)

Instead of using basic sea salt, incorporate Epsom salt into your DIY scrub recipes! Epsom salt is composed of sulfate and magnesium -- both of which are natural minerals with various healing properties. The larger, more coarse size of Epsom salt makes it a perfect exfoliant! It also breaks down old fat cells that create cellulite as well as reduces water retention. We recommend doing a 2:1 ratio of coconut oil and Epsom salt and then adjust to your preference if necessary.

Anti-Aging Pumpkin Spice Mask

Ingredients: pumpkin puree, honey, cinnamon

Add 2 tbs of pumpkin puree, 1 tbs of honey, and 1/8 tsp of cinnamon together and mix until smooth. Apply a thin layer over your skin and leave it for 5-10 minutes. Pumpkin is great for anti-aging effects as it is full of enzymes and vitamins (such as A, C, and E). Honey gently cleanses and moisturizes the skin. Cinnamon aids in anti-aging stimulates blood flow and fights acne. We do not recommend adding cinnamon if you have sensitive skin!

Revitalizing Hair Mask

Ingredients (for shoulder-length hair): 1 banana (ripe), 1 egg, 1 tsp olive oil, 4 drops of essential oil (your preference)

Blend all your ingredients using a blender or food processor. Once blended, transfer to a bowl and apply it to your scalp and hair. Leave this mask on for around 10-15 minutes. We recommend rinsing the mask off with cool or lukewarm water.

Foot Refresher

Ingredients: foot bath (or any container that you can fit your feet in!), pumice stone, foot scrub, lotion, nail polish (optional)

Start by soaking your feet in warm water for 15-20 minutes. Once soft, use a pumice stone to remove any dead skin from your heels. Next, use a scrub (or make your own using the recipe above!) to buff away any other impurities on the surface of your feet. Moisturize your feet using your favorite lotion or oil. The Floating Lotus Spa carries a wonderful rosemary mint pumice scrub and foot cream by The Cottage Greenhouse, and it would make a perfect addition to anyone’s routine! Lastly, you may wish to give your nails a couple of coats of your favorite nail polish!
